Today's Focus

Each day we have a project that we are focusing on - lately more that one each day as the spring gets busier and busier.  Today we are working on a fun classic design with a country feel.  This project walks the line of the trends we have been seeing come to the area.  Classic pieces such as this marble backsplash paired with contemporary elements such as the dark cabinetry and rounded out with a rustic element - in this case a rustic oak look laminate floor.  All together this will be a bright and fresh country kitchen!

Ideas, Ideas, Ideas

Via- Decorpad.com

After a CRAZY busy week at the office sometimes I need to have a day to realx, search for new design ideas and re-fuel myself with design inspiration!

Lately I have had the opportunity to work on quite a few bathrooms.
Here are some ideas for bathrooms - especially small ones like mine!

I think that any small bath needs some character  - and having a little fun will not make the space look any smaller when designed correctly.  The photo above shows a penny round tile - which I  LOVE - on the floor.

Storage is always a challenge in a small bath - the idea of taking a small amount of space from a larger room to gain some much needed space in your bath is something to keep in mind.  The recessed storage area in this bath provides both closed & open storage and at the same time makes the bath feel much larger since it is not bumped out into the room.

Shower storage is always a challenge.  Check out this idea for shelves that extend across the shower.  It is a fresh approach instead of having corners or a small recessed area.

Favorite Things: Linear Tile

Check out these new products from one of my suppliers!

Linear tile is one of the hottest trends - and when I say linear I mean both in the size of the tile and the pattern printed on it.  Scroll down for some exciting new  products that I just can't wait to use in my designs!  Each of these collections comes in many colors and of course can be used in so many different applications and there are endless possibilities for decorative tile to pair with them.

Eclipse Collection

Stile Collection

Of course I need to also show some of my favorite linear looks to pair with each of these!

Favorite Things: Painted Cabinetry

One of my favorite things.......Painted Cabinetry!

Below are some examples that I just love!

Black painted cabinetry can be used in all styles of design.  It can lend itsef to contemporary, rustic, traditonal, formal and much more depending on what it is paired with.  This is an example of black painted cabinetry from my Omega/Dynasty line.  www.Omegacab.com

Also from our Omega/Dynasty line this white painted cabinetry creates a crisp look that bridges traditonal and contemporary design.  I LOVE how white cabinetry creats a fresh look that can go with any other wood species or accent colors for paint, backsplash tile, and even more fun....use a contrasting color for the island as shown in the example above. www.OmegaCab.com

Check out this AWESOME blue cabinetry that was paired with this espresso kitchen.  What a fun way to add a pop of color and create a unique look that no one else will have! www.OmegaCab.com

Fresh Color Trends for 2012

I always have clients, friends & family asking my advice on the hottest color trends and which direction they should go with color in their homes.  Here is one of my little secrets...the ColorMix 2012 color trends from Sherwin Williams.  Each year they come out with their vision for what the latest and greatest color trends will be for the year!

When color trends are released they are not a mumble jumble of random colors but typically selected by what is currently going on in the industry.  You should find items such as accessories, fabrics and much more in these color stories as you pay attention when shopping.

Enjoy!.....

Neutrals

I love this mix of warm & cool neutrals!  I like to use a neutral color as my base through a space and then select a coordinating "pop" or accent color on the wall that you would like to become the focal point of the room. One thing to notice...yellow...super HOT right now especially in fabrics & wall coverings.

Reds

These red color selections are so warm and cozy...especially for Fargo!

Blues

You can never go wrong with a blue!  It is nice to see a little brightness come back to this color story.  In the last year or so grey has been dominant that I'm excited to see the bright colors make their way back.  These are perfect for a bathroom, bedroom or any other space you want to feel cool, calm & collected.

Greens

As you can see teal seems to be dominating the green color story.  You will certainly notice this in accessories & furniture in stores right now.  A bit of the grey trend lingers in this color story as well.  I have a version of this pallet in my living room paired with a warm neutral and love it!
